What's going on?  Did I miss something?  Is this the PERMANENT new form of the comic?

I think that what they're doing now is just posting the comics within the blog whenever DCS finishes a comic. Unfortunately we haven't seen a new comic in awhile, so for now it's just been blogs.

I'm honestly not a fan of blogs, but this format actually works for this project, it flows very naturally, in my opinion.

Blogs work better the more specific they are.

"Hey! My life!" is only as interesting as the life of the person who writes it, unless they're a spectacularly good writer.

Only mish-mash sorts of blogs have any truck with me are www.bobharris.com and dilbertblog.typepad.com.  Also quite enjoy www.schneier.com/blog, which has a security focus.

And even then, unless they're a celebrity, it helps to actually know the person.

I imagine it helps to know the person even if they *are* a celebrity...

Yes.  See this post:

Excellent, it asks for feedback.

I'd like to request a method to be alerted to a new comic, but not a new blog.

Since they're effectively the same thing now, I don't think you're in luck.

Unless you can just be alerted based on tags, and all comics are tagged appropriately...

Or, if you're watching the forum anyway, which section the thread is started in will tell you whether it's a blog post or a comic.

Actually, that's going to change soon, we're going to merge the two forums into one now, especially after the last comic was put smack dab in the middle of a blog post.

How unfortunate.  Will the tagging at least occur?

Things will be tagged either [comic] or [blog] when we do so, yes. (Though there is always the possibility for both tags to apply to a single entry, I suppose)

Hurray.  Perhaps I'm being silly, since the comic is just blog in... drawn form, but I stand by my ridiculousness.
